I only went to high school to study English so I could be a journalist (!). I was in a top academic stream but swapped maths for typing, a scandalous move back then for a bright academic student. It was one of the best decisions in my life. I was two years ahead of my fellow students in typing class when I went to journalism school straight from high school.

Last night I was blessed to be visited by five different starships within the space of ten minutes. If you are not going outside regularly on clear nights, I strongly urge you to do so. And for you Northern Hemispherians now in deep mid-winter...I used to get up at 2am from my toasty-warm bed in the middle of winter when my Galactic friends called out in my sleep that they were waiting outside for me. Coat, gloves, scarf on top of my pjs, lots of yawning and grumbling, I would go outside - and sure enough, there they were. It happened every so often for years. I always go out before bed anyway, all year round.
