This famous quote by Thomas Jefferson defines two different kinds of states of relationships between U.S.Government and the people they allegedly represent.

We certainly do not need the police state to issue martial law and suspend the Constitution.Massive public resistance,all done legally within the written law of the Constitution,is all that is needed.
